Thank you so much, and happy New Year, Sarah.
It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the listening material and the article based on the "Southwest Airlines to Require Advance Purchase of Extra Seats" that you kindly selected on 4 Jan. 2026.
I partially agree with Southwest Airlines' policy, but the Japanese would not accept it.
In my opinion, charging more for more space is not a bad idea in terms of arifare, but this policy does not seem fair in Japan.
Among athletes, there are a few men who are as big as giants, but they shouldn't be blamed because they aren't always overweight.
For that reason, the matter will be controversial among Japanese people if an airline company applies it.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class. |

It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the material based on the "Why Workers Are Tired of Open-Plan Offices" that you kindly selected on 28 Dec. 2025.
As I mentioned in the lesson, I suppose that most engineers, including me, would not like open-plan offices.
In general, engineers tend to be introverted and dislike being exposed by their colleagues.
Meanwhile, they are more likely to prefer fixed desks to hot-desking for the same reason.
For that reason, the effectiveness depends on the kind of jobs and the characteristics of the workers.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class. |

It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the idioms and the material based on the "Preventive Raises $30 Million for Pioneering Gene Editing Research" that you kindly selected on 22 Dec. 2025.
The following idioms are very useful in an office.
1) to ramp up ≒ to increase or intensify effort, production, or activity
2) to iron out the details ≒ to resolve small problems or finalize minor aspects of a plan
3) to take something offline ≒ to discuss or handle an issue privately, outside of a public or group setting
4) to keep somebody in the loop ≒ to keep people constantly updated with the latest information
5) to walk somebody through something ≒ to walk you through step by step
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class. |

Thank you so much, Sarah.
It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the material based on the "Meet the Japanese woman who married ChatGPT - News" that you kindly selected on 20 Dec. 2025.
As I mentioned in class, the new bride in the video may have a mental disorder.
Meanwhile, I though that she is living in a Japan of the future, far removed from the present.
There is a Japanese man who married a virtual female character. He married her in 2018, and the marriage ceremony was reported in some news media.
These behavior reflects unhealthy society in Japan.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class. |

It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, the following similar vocabulary and from the material based on the "The US Parents Raising Their Kids Like It's 1999" that you kindly selected on 26 Nov. 2025.
1) jealous vs envious
2) imply vs infer
3) uninterested vs disinterested
I found explaining the 1) vocabulary differences the most difficult.
This is because, in Japanese, there is only one word "Ura yama shi i" with that meaning.
Japanese people interpret that word in various ways based on the surrounding context.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class. |

It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from new Idioms and the material based on the "One Job Isn’t Enough - The Rise of Polyworking" that you kindly selected on 23 Nov. 2025.
1) get a taste of one's own medicine: to experience the same unpleasant treatment you gave to others.
2) a blessing in disguise : something that seems bad at first but turns out to be good
3) Every cloud has a silver lining: Even bad situations have something positive in them.
I will use these idioms in my day-to-day conversations.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class. |

It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on the "Will Trump’s Trade War Break America’s Addiction to Cheap Stuff?" that you kindly selected on 15 Nov. 2025.
According to the news, some U.S. citizens wrongly believe that other countries must pay reciprocal tariffs.
In fact, U.S. citizens pay the tariffs through higher prices for imported products unless they purchase only products made in the US.
President Trump, once being an entrepreneur himself, was of course familiar with this tariff system.
However, it appears that he has absolutely no understanding of ordinary citizens with common sense.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class. |

It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on the "Complete the sentences with the correct preposition and your own ideas" and article "Elon Musk set to become world's first trillionaire" that you kindly selected on 13 Nov. 2025.
Here is my answer. No. 2, 4 were a little difficult for me.
1. I’ve never understood the point of budge.
2. Where I live, there’s been a rise in population.
3. Most of my friends have an interest in Japanese horror movies.
4. I wish we could find a solution to the lost pension issue.
5. I’d love to prove the existence of extraterrestrial entities.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class. |

It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on the article "New Zealand Man Sets Record with 2,253-Word Name" that you kindly selected on 26 Oct. 2025.
I don't agree with the idea of giving long names.
The main reason is taking a lot of time to write down your name.
There will be many opportunities to write your name, such as on examination papers and application forms.
Taking too long to enter your name, especially when taking exams, may be disadvantageous.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class. |

It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from grammer lesson of compound adjective and the material based on and the article "PERFECTIONISM" that you kindly selected on 12 Oct. 2025.
Here are the compound adjective examples I learned in the lesson.
1) easy-going
2) water-proof
3) long-lasting
4) last-minutes
5) fine-print
6) once-in-a-lifetime
The 5) was my unfamiliar compound adjective. I couldn't literally guess the meaning from the words.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class. |
