Thank you so much, Sarah.
It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on the "Will Trump’s Trade War Break America’s Addiction to Cheap Stuff?" that you kindly selected on 15 Nov. 2025.
According to the news, some U.S. citizens wrongly believe that other countries must pay reciprocal tariffs.
In fact, U.S. citizens pay the tariffs through higher prices for imported products unless they purchase only products made in the US.
President Trump, once being an entrepreneur himself, was of course familiar with this tariff system.
However, it appears that he has absolutely no understanding of ordinary citizens with common sense.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class. |

It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on the "Complete the sentences with the correct preposition and your own ideas" and article "Elon Musk set to become world's first trillionaire" that you kindly selected on 13 Nov. 2025.
Here is my answer. No. 2, 4 were a little difficult for me.
1. I’ve never understood the point of budge.
2. Where I live, there’s been a rise in population.
3. Most of my friends have an interest in Japanese horror movies.
4. I wish we could find a solution to the lost pension issue.
5. I’d love to prove the existence of extraterrestrial entities.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class. |

It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on the article "New Zealand Man Sets Record with 2,253-Word Name" that you kindly selected on 26 Oct. 2025.
I don't agree with the idea of giving long names.
The main reason is taking a lot of time to write down your name.
There will be many opportunities to write your name, such as on examination papers and application forms.
Taking too long to enter your name, especially when taking exams, may be disadvantageous.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class. |

It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from grammer lesson of compound adjective and the material based on and the article "PERFECTIONISM" that you kindly selected on 12 Oct. 2025.
Here are the compound adjective examples I learned in the lesson.
1) easy-going
2) water-proof
3) long-lasting
4) last-minutes
5) fine-print
6) once-in-a-lifetime
The 5) was my unfamiliar compound adjective. I couldn't literally guess the meaning from the words.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class. |

It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on the article "Social Conformity" and "Japanese Workers Adopt Fake Names for Safety" that you kindly selected on 28 Sep. 2025.
In general, Japanese people are more likely to conform to social norms for some reasons.
This behavior is called "conform pressure", which is often seen in Japanese society.
One of the reason for the bizzare behaivior is Japan's education system and school days.
In a school, teachers and older students are respectable entities, so younger students recognize that they must follow them.
For that reason, the "Social Conformity" is based on the experience.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class. |

It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on my unfamilier word "PREDICAMENT" that you kindly selected on 21 Sep. 2025.
The "predicament" means a tough or tricky situation, usually one that's unpleasant, confusing, or hard to get out of.
Of course, I have experienced many predicaments in my life. However, I barely made it through them and sometimes compromised.
We should avoid any predicaments as much as possible, but if we unfortunately encounter them, they will be a good experience.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class. |

Thank you so much, Sarah. It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on phrasal verba and a video related to 'Sleep' that you kindly selected on 14 Sep. 2025.
1) sleep in
2) sleep on it
3) sleep like a baby
4) lose sleep over something
5) toss & turn
I knew 1) and 3), but the others were unfamiliar to me. The most difficult phrasal verb is number 3) because it's hard to literally imagine its meaning.
Regarding the video about a man who doesn't sleep at all, I remembered another guy who doesn't sleep at all.
According to medical observation, the man actually took a very short nap while relaxing or taking rest.
For that reason, I doubt the case of Quang namam in Vietnam.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class. |

It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on the article "POSITIVE FRAMING", "HARASSMENT" that you kindly selected on 7 Sep. 2025.
As I mentioned in class, there is a seniority system in Japanese society. This system means that the more older employees there are, the more they are respected and the higher their salaries increase.
For that reason, senior employees do not sue younger employees because the workplace atmosphere is uncomfortable.
Considering the UK case, I think both younger and older employees need to compromise to get along.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on the article "Stereotyping in Movies - Word Formation" and "Many U.S. Workers Feel Guilty About Using Paid Leave" that you kindly selected on 4 Sep. 2025.
1. "Stereotyping in Movies - Word Formation"
There are some unfamiliar word formation as below.
- Stereotypes are simple, one-dimensional [portrayals] of people.
- even the [heroic] male lion
- even in [amimated] movies
2. "Many U.S. Workers Feel Guilty About Using Paid Leave"
As I mentioned in the lesson, I was surprised to read the article because U.S. workers are more likely to feel guilty about using paid holidays than Japanese workers.
Based on my experience, workers in Japanese companies rarely use their paid holidays.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class. |

It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on the article "Job Hunting Costs Rise as Candidates Invest Heavily in Career Support" that you kindly selected on 31 Aug. 2025.
As I mentioned in class, having connections, such as graduating from the same university, is more important for finding a job in Japan.
I suspect that this traditional hiring method is one reason why Japanese companies have lost profits over the past few decades.
However, I expect that strengthening competitiveness is becoming increasingly important through paid training programs.
Meanwhile, only wealthy job seekers can take advantage of them. So, I believe it's unfair when it comes to job hunting.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class. |

It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on the article "A Senior's Version of FACEBOOK" and "European Doctors Try Soial Prescribing for Health" that you kindly selected on 23 Aug. 2025.
As I mentioned in the lesson, the Senior's Version of Facebook is a sarcastic article about social media, especially Facebook.
It was really funny, and it made me laugh so much.
Meanwhile, I agree that social prescribing is a good method for improving people's health.
I wonder how they can possibly fund such activities, unless the supporters and doctors are volunteering for free.
I guess the activities are subsidized by the government to a certain degree.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class. |
