Thank you so much, Pie.
It was an enjoyable and insightful class as always, based on the material 'People Often Follow Strangers in Crowds — Studyy' that you kindly selected for me on 23 May 2026.
The article reminded me of a hidden-camera TV show that was broadcast many years ago.
The show monitored people's behavior in various circumstances involving unexpected events.
The episode I watched tested how people would behave in a theater if a fire suddenly broke out.
At first, a theater staff member kindly explained to the audience how to evacuate.
Then, the show intentionally sounded a fire alarm, and some actors didn't follow the instructions, running away in the wrong direction.
As a result, the rest of the audience did not follow the official guidance, but mistakenly followed the actors.
Thus, the fact that people often follow strangers in crowds was proven.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

Thank you so much, Pie.
It was an enjoyable and insightful class as always, based on the material 'How Cleaning and Tidying Can Bring Peace of Mindy' that you kindly selected for me on 22 May 2026.
Needless to say, sweeping, vacuuming, and clearing away clutter can also clear your mind and make you feel comfortable.
No one would disagree with this idea. This fact has been psychologically and scientifically proven.
However, there is a famous story about a man who loved model trains.
One day, his wife threw them away without his permission.
Consequently, he became severely depressed and fell into a state of complete apathy.
Therefore, obsessive or forced tidying up may actually cause depression, especially when it involves someone else's belongings.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

Thank you so much, Pie.
It was an enjoyable and insightful class as always, exercises on idioms and phrasal verbs, based on the material 'More Americans Report 'Political Breakups'' that you kindly selected for me on 18 May 2026.
Today, the number of Japanese people who are interested in policies, politicians, and politics is increasing because voter turnout in recent elections has also been increasing.
Meanwhile, most Japanese people are more indifferent to politics than people in other countries.
Therefore, political topics do not always damage relationships, such as friendships, family ties, and romantic relationships.
However, most Japanese people recognize that politics, religion, and specific sports teams should not be topics of daily conversation.
In addition, one's educational background is becoming a sensitive topic among Japanese people because attaining a higher education unfairly depends on a household's financial condition - in other words, the 'parent lottery'.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

Thank you so much, Pie.
It was an enjoyable and insightful class as always, based on the material 'Long Hours at Work May Increase Obesity Risk' that you kindly selected for me on 14 May 2026.
I totally agree with the study's result that working overtime significantly increases the risk of obesity, based on my own experience.
As I mentioned in the lesson, there were many colleagues who often worked overtime when I worked for one of the traditional Japanese companies.
Most of them tended to be obese for the same reasons mentioned in the article, as they could not afford to spare much time for their personal lives.
To make matters worse, they seemed to mistakenly believe that being obese was a sort of symbol of a diligent and loyal worker.
This is why the issue has remained unresolved for many years in Japan. It was completely ridiculous.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

It was an enjoyable and insightful class as always, based on the material 'Will Plane Fuel ProblemsRuin Summer Holidays?' that you kindly selected for me on 13 May 2026.
As I mentioned in the lesson, I was somewhat surprised to read the article, because airline companies are striving to maintain their operations despite the fuel crisis by taking measures such as adjusting the number of flights.
I feel a little jealous of affluent people because they can afford to travel abroad despite the skyrocketing travel costs.
However, I strongly believe that airlines must guarantee flight safety rather than prioritizing profits.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

Thank you so much, Pie.
It was an enjoyable and insightful class as always, based on the material 'How Nature and Nurture Shape Personality' that you kindly selected for me on 12 May 2026.
As I mentioned in the lesson, the article reminded me of the "Baby Switching Incident" that happened more than 6 decades ago in Japan.
Two baby boys, born to two different mothers, were delivered at around the same time in the same hospital.
However, the two babies were mistakenly given to the wrong mothers due to a nurse's error.
One family was wealthy, while the other was destitute.
One boy was raised in the wealthy family and received a high-quality education, while the other boy could not receive a good education.
As a result, the man who was raised in poverty, despite having good genes, could not afford to go to university or get a good job.
In contrast, the man who was raised in the wealthy family, even without having good genes, was able to graduate from university and get a good job at a leading Japanese company.
Based on this story, I'm convinced that nurture has a greater impact than nature.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

Thank you so much, Pie.
It was an enjoyable and insightful class as always, based on the material 'Why Rural Life in Japan Can Be Difficult - Survey' that you kindly selected for me on 9 May 2026.
There are several reasons why rural life in Japan is quite difficult for those who were born and raised in urban areas.
As I mentioned in the lesson, elderly people in rural areas tend to be stubborn.
This characteristic may cause conflicts between young newcomers and the senior local residents.
To make matters worse, living in rural areas requires additional costs, including fuel for vehicles and heating.
Furthermore, taxes depend on the town they live in, because the maintenance of facilities in the countryside is very costly.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

It was an enjoyable and insightful class as always, based on the material 'Japan Encourages Shorts at Work to Beat Summer Heat' that you kindly selected for me on 8 May 2026.
As I mentioned in the lesson, we expect this coming summer to be scorching hot.
To make matters worse, oil prices have risen due to the conflict between Iran and the US.
The Japanese government has stockpiled oil, but the supply will only last for 10 months.
For this reason, the government will take further actions, such as reducing electricity and oil consumption, unless the oil supply recovers.
I really hope that our company will encourage employees to work from home again, just like during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

It was an enjoyable and insightful class as always, based on the material 'Instant Noodles Find New Home on Restaurant Menus' that you kindly selected for me on 6 May 2026.
It seems that there are some Ramen restaurants in Japan where instant noodles are served with customers' favorite toppings.
I do not particularly support such restaurants, because I would rather enjoy authentic Ramen at real Ramen shops where chefs strive to serve their best creations.
That being said, I like instant noodles since they are convenient and inexpensive.
They are sometimes classified as junk food, but I usually add some vegetables to make up for the lack of nutrients.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

Thank you so much, Pie.
It was an enjoyable and insightful class as always, based on the material 'Experts Urge Higher Taxes on Alcohol and Junk Food to Fight Liver Disease' that you kindly selected for me on 5 May 2026.
According to a recent study by the WHO, even a small amount of alcohol is quite harmful to our health, contrary to what many people believed in the past.
Even medical doctors used to say that drinking alcohol in moderation could be regarded as a kind of medicine.
However, this fact is not widely known in Japan. As a result, elderly people still believe the myth.
It seems that alcoholic beverage manufacturers are putting pressure on institutions such as the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare not to disclose this fact.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

It was an enjoyable and insightful class as always, based on the material 'Coffee Drinkers May Get Gut and Brain Benefits' that you kindly selected for me on 4 May 2026.
According to a recent study by the WHO, caffeine does not cause cancer, contrary to what many people believed in the past.
In addition, not only does coffee not cause cancer, but it can also reduce the risk of certain cancers, such as liver cancer.
In the past, my parents told me not to drink coffee. Today, however, considering its health benefits, most parents would probably advise their children to drink a few cups of coffee once they grow up.
Considering this fact, we need to keep up with the latest information and avoid being influenced by fake news to stay healthy.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

It was an enjoyable and insightful class as always, based on the material 'Circular Economy', 'Study Says Big Dairy, Meat Companies Are Greenwashing' that you kindly selected for me on 2 May 2026.
Recently, many Japanese companies have been using clichés such as 'eco-friendly' and 'sustainable.'
As I mentioned in the lesson, I recommend that companies dare to be honest and say something like, 'We are pursuing profits rather than the environment' in a situation where these typical words are rampant
This is because people have started to feel that these companies are just Greenwashing.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

Thank you so much, Pie.
It was an enjoyable and insightful class as always, based on the material 'Burger King Japan Pays Rival Restaurants to Switch Brands' that you kindly selected for me on 30 April 2026.
This was a timely topic for me because a new Burger King opened near my local station this year.
Nowadays, almost every station along the JR Chuo Line has a Burger King.
Franchise owners who switch their current restaurants to Burger King are given a unique subsidy, which is very beneficial to them. This policy is a great strategy to expand Burger King's presence in Japan.
Meanwhile, I doubt that this growth will be sustainable in the long run.
This is because most Japanese people tend to be health-conscious and avoid junk food. In addition, there are already many giant domestic restaurant chains in Japan.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

It was an enjoyable and insightful class as always, based on the material 'Why Are People Protesting Japan's New Weapon Sales Rules?' that you kindly selected for me on 29 April 2026.
As I mentioned in the lesson, I'm not against the Japanese government's decision to export weapons to other countries.
This is because the government is correctly following international rules, and the weapons are non-lethal. I believe that exporting them can contribute to improving Japan's economic condition.
In addition, it would serve as a kind of deterrent to other countries by demonstrating the quality of the weapons.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

It was an enjoyable and insightful class as always, based on the material 'Why Are Rising Interest Rates Seen As Positive For Japan's Economy?' that you kindly selected for me on 25 April 2026.
The article contains a lot of technical terms regarding economics.
Since I'm not an expert in economics, I was not able to understand the mechanism of why rising interest rates will have a positive impact on the current state of the Japanese economy.
However, I was relieved to hear the prospect that our lives will improve if the Japanese people endure current issues such as inflation, stagnant wages, and a potential fuel crisis.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.
