Thank you so much, May.
It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on the article "Japan to Replace Foreign Trainee System that you kindly selected on 13 Aug. 2025.
As I mentioned in the lesson, the Technical Intern Training Program is a notorious program because it offers few benefits to foreign employees, but employers can exploit them.
I was embarrassed by the fact that the Japanese government presented such a silly program to the world.
So, I'm for the idea of updating the program with the new programs, such as "employment for skill development" and "specified skilled worker".
Meanwhile, I expect that there should be strict restrictions for applicants to adopt the programs for security reasons.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

Thank you so much, May.
It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on the article "Japan: 1,010 Food and Drink Prices Rising in August" that you kindly selected on 2 Aug. 2025.
In fact, Japanese nations are bored with the information that prices are increasing every single month. certainly, we cannot expect huge raise so far.
As a result, the current ruling political party lost many seats in the upper house of the national diet.
Meanwhile, the most patriotic political party, SANSEITO, got a significant number of seats.
This reflects the reality of most Japanese people. I'd like to expect our salaries will be raised or the product prices will be decreased.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

Thank you so much, May.
It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on the article "Japan's Ishiba Loses Upper House Majority" that you kindly selected on 26 July 2025.
The current ruling party, the LDP, lost the national election in July because many Japanese people are not satisfied with the government's response to issues such as inflation, low salaries, rising rice prices, and tax increases.
The most patriotic political party, SANSEITO, won this election as well as the US. That makes sense.
I expect the incumbent prime minister, Ishiba, to resign. I expect a new prime minister to be chosen in 2025.
However, the speed of decision-making will be sluggish because neither ruling party has enough seats.
So, I suppose nations could be badly influenced.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

Thank you so much, May. It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on the article "Work-Related Stress Hits Record High in Japan" that you kindly selected on 12 July 2025.
Nowadays, most Japanese people say that we are suffering from a recession.
However, the average value of the stock market is much higher than before.
In addition, jhe job-to-applicant ratio is very low, so if you are not picky about the type of job, many people can find employment.
Nevertheless, when work-related stress is high, it means that most workers are victims of various kinds of harassment.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

Thank you so much, May.
It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on the article "Calls for Japan to Abolish Tax-Free Shopping" that you kindly selected on 5 July 2025.
To be honest, I was mixed up "tax-free shop" with "duty-free shop".
The former means a shop that does not require a consumption tax, the latter means a shop that does require not only a consumption tax but also other taxes, such as taxes on luxury goods such as customs duties, liquor and tobacco taxes, because if I were an owner of an "tax/duty-free shop", I would include my benefit in price tags.
As you pointed out, I agree that the price at a "tax-free shop" would not be inexpensive because the price on the tag is high.
I recommend ordinary discount stores instead of such as "tax-free shop" and "duty-free shop".
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

Thank you so much, May.
It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on the article "4 in 10 Americans Aren't Saving for Retirement" that you kindly selected on 23 June 2025.
The ratio of people saving money in the US is greater than I thought, because I thought citizens in the US were more likely to purchase products than to save money.
Meanwhile, according to a thesis, Japanese people are likely to save money for reasons related to their genes, "Serotonin transporter type S". The thesis said that they are keen to fear and anxiety, so they save money for their future.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

Thank you so much, May.
It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on the article "69% of Japanese People Trust Mass Media" that you kindly selected on 19 June 2025.
Generally speaking, NHK, like the BBC in the UK, is considered to be a relatively trustworthy public broadcaster.
I forgot to tell you, but one reason the Japanese don't trust the media is because it doesn't report any news that is inconvenient for them.
However, other private commercial channels in Japan are likely to be biased. For instance, they are less likely to report news that is inconvenient for sponsored companies. Meanwhile, they excessively praise people who benefit the channels.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on the article "Many in US, Japan Don't Trust Country to Regulate AI" that you kindly selected on 15 June 2025.
As I mentioned in the lesson, some Japanese people oppose the common use of AI technologies because it will ruin their vested interest, such as a taxi driver, an internal medicine physician, a psychiatrist, etc. Additionally, elderly Japanese people tend to be stubborn.
However, making sacrifice is necessary for nations to prosper.
For this reason, I support the idea that the Japanese government should not regulate the diffusion of the technologies.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on the article "Most Japanese Managers Say Workload Has Increased" that you kindly selected on 14 June 2025.
I'm engaged in a manageer position, so I really feel manager is required to do hard work.
I have to do not only management tasks but also practical tasks at the same time.
The Japanese government set a strict rule to regulate woking overtime. However, the amount of work does not reduce. As a result, employees work overtime without declaring it.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

Thank you so much, May.
It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on the article "Tokyo to Waive Water Fees to Beat Summer Heat" that you kindly selected on 31 May 2025.
It would be a good idea to reduce citizens' water bills in Tokyo under the inflation.
Some people may misunderstand that all water bills will be free and that they can use as much water as they want.
In fact, only the base fee will be free, not the entire water bill.
Meanwhile, electricity bills cannot be free because electricity is provided by private power companies.
In Tokyo, water is supplied by municipal companies. This is why water bills can be free in Tokyo.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on the article "Remote Workers Feel Focused but Stressed: Survey" that you kindly selected on 27 May 2025.
As I mentioned in class, tip culture would not take hold in Japan for the following reasons:
1) It is difficult for restaurants to calculate taxes to be paid to the government.
2) Current prices of dishes include tips.
3) Tips may interfere Japanese waiters and waitresses who are unfamiliar with the tipping culture.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on the article "Remote Workers Feel Focused but Stressed: Survey" that you kindly selected on 24 May 2025.
As I mentioned in the lesson, I really appreciate remote work style because the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
However, some micromanagers bother their subordinates.
In addition, I admit the remote work requires twice the discipline and three times the communication as you said.
As a result, some workers may feel stressed by remote work.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on the article "Solar Panels on All New Homes in England by 2027" that you kindly selected on 20 May 2025.
As I mentioned in the lesson, houses with solar panels are more likely to be targeted by solicitors because their owners can be seen as gullible buyers. This is because the buyers purchased expensice Solar panels in Japan.
However, I acknowledge the benefits of Solar panels. The house does not need extra electricity because the Solar panels can provide enough power.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on the article "Japanese Couples Skip Marriage Over Surname Law" that you kindly selected on 15 May 2025.
I believe the surname law does not prevent marriage in Japan because there are many other reasons why people don't marry.
As I mentioned in class, there is an interesting hypothesis in the treatise. It predicts that, as long as we are following the current Japanese law, all families in Japan will be unified under the surname "Sato."
The "Sato" surname is the most common in Japan, so as more people get married, the number of "Sato" increases.
For this reason, I agree with amending the current law to allow people to choose their own surname, either their spouse's or their own.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on the article "Ultra-Processed Foods Linked to Early Death" that you kindly selected on 10 May 2025.
When it comes to ultra-processed foods, I think of salami, bacon, sausage, etc.
These meats are defined by the WHO as foods with a high risk of causing cancer.
We cannot completely avoid ultra-processed foods when we eat out could be impossible.
However, we can avoid if we cook one's own meals.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on the article "Kyoto Bus Driver Denied Pension After Stealing $7" that you kindly selected on 24 April 2025.
The bus driver is a municipal employee hired by the city of Kyoto.
In general, being a civil servant can be considered a high status job in Japan because you can't be fired unless you commit a crime.
In addition, the income is very stable and their social status is permanently ensured.
Therefore, it is only natural that the bus driver lost his pension for committing a minor crime.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on the article "Major Japanese Companies Use AI for Recruitment" that you kindly selected on 22 April 2025.
As I mentioned in the lesson, employees in HR departments conduct recruiting activities in Japan.
However, they tend to be so biased that they employ new graduates from famous universities, not major and achivements in the university.
Of course, this method is reasonalble to a centain exetent.
As a result, new graduates make a faction and they are easily to be promoted.
Unfortunately, this is one of the reasons why large Japanese companies suffer from huge deficits.
I expect companies to take advantage of AI technology to hire really smart graduates.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on the article "Half of US Parents Financially Support Adult Children" that you kindly selected on 20 April 2025.
The article reminded me of the negative word "Parasite Single" to describe the adult children in Japan.
The Japanese have thought that son and daughter should leave their parents home before they reach 30 years or get married.
When I worked in my previous company in Tokyo, there were more single colleagues living with their parents even after 40 years.
They could be independent from the financial perspective, but it seems that they have not been popular among women of marriageable age.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on the article "Millions in Japan Gamble on Illegal Casino Sites" that you kindly selected on 30 March 2025.
In general, gambling is addictive and a very frightening form of entertainment.
To make matters worse, online casino is quite easy for even children to do.
However, there are no rules and laws to regulate the advertisements of illegal online gambling services.
I expect that the Japanese government should make the law to restrict it.
When it comes to public gambling, I have experienced online horse racing as a trial without paying money.
As a result, I got about 3,000 yen and removed my account. So I can keep the winning state for good.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

Thank you so much, May.
It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on the article "Nearly 80,000 People Moved to Tokyo in 2024" that you kindly selected on 9 March 2025.
I appreciate that Tokyo has a lot of opportunities to find good jobs.
There are also many colleges and universities and many places that attract students in Tokyo. The temptation are likely to hinder the students' study time. In general, the academic performance of most private universities in Tokyo is not better than many people thought, even though the universities have high caliber and tuition. Of course, there are some exceptions, national public universities in Tokyo have quite high academic performance.
For that reason, choosing universities in Tokyo is not always a good decision.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on the article "The Role of Anime in Manga's Worldwide Success" that you kindly selected on 4 March 2025.
"Weekly Shōnen Jump" is the most popular manga anthology that comes out every week and contains the latest episode.
My parents didn't allow me to buy the manga comics, so I used to browse the magazine in a bookstore when I was a kid.
Popular mangas are more likely to appear in magazines for longer years, the child readers will be adults.
Of course, they have to work, so they cannot afford to read magazines.
Animes of the popular mangas will be created. The Anime port is well summarized and it has motion, voice, music, so it is very comfortable to watch.
For that reason, I prefer the anime port to the original manga.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on the article "Wealth Gap in Japan Growing, Research Finds" that you kindly selected on 22 Feb. 2025.
As I said in the lesson, I sometimes feel that the wealth gap is growing in real life. In spite of inflation, our salaries have remained the same, while some employees work in large companies are getting raises.
In addition, people who own a lot of real estate in urban areas are privileged because they do not have to pay a lot of taxes due to the current law.
Many taxes are deducted monthly from our salaries, so I am disappointed with my spendable money.
To improve the situation, it is necessary to change the current law. However, the rich people will oppose it because they have influence over the politicians.
For taht reason, Japanese nations cannot expect the current situation to improve.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.

It was an enjoyable, tactful class, as always, from the the material based on the article "US Approves First New Pain Medicine in 25 Years" that you kindly selected on 15 Feb. 2025.
When it comes to drugs, the Japanese government and lawmakers are conservative, and it takes a long time for new medicines to be approved.
So I cannot expect any new medicines in Japan. In addition, the government controls the price of mediciens, it sometimes cause a shortage of medicines.
Meanwhile, we can easily buy over-the-counter medicines in Japan. So the overdose among Japanese people is getting serious these days. There are restrictions on the purchase of medicines in online stores.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to taking your next class.
